The Governors Forum has demanded that no less than one per cent of the country’s consolidated revenue be earmarked to improve primary healthcare service.

Muhammad Bashar, the Emir of Gwandu and Chairman of Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, has called on parents to ensure their children were immunized in the current polio campaign in the state.The traditional ruler made the call during the Immunisation Plus Days Flag Off Ceremony (IPD) ceremony in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
He said unless parents bring out their children for polio immunization, the society stood the risk of resurgence of the virus.

Kano and Kaduna State Governments have concluded plans to generate electricity from solid waste. Environmental officials in the two states gave the indication in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Malam Ahmed Salihu, Director of Environment, Kaduna State Ministry for Environment, said that plans to generate electricity from domestic waste had gone far.According to him, the plan is to transform waste into huge employment opportunities.“We have already entered into discussion with the Federal Ministry of Environment and had shown interest to partner with us to make the project a reality.“The waste generation has become a major challenge to the state and we need to be taken advantage of the situation.

Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State on Tuesday in Gombe inaugurated committees for the establishment of five tertiary institutions in the state.
