The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Strategic Plans put together by the NGF Secretariat with the help of the State Partnership for Accountability, Responsiveness and Capability (SPARC) Programme of the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID), not only sets the tone for the future activities of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) but provides the direction for its future engagements.
The Strategic plans represent strategies for advancing all aspects of the Forum's readiness to collectively confront the challenges of governance and ultimately building a truly democratic Nigeria. The NGF has a strategic and focal role to play in promoting unity, understanding and cooperation in the country and with these Strategic Plans as guides, the NGF strives to build a coordinated, targeted and result-oriented Forum.
The Strategic Plans are important components in our resolve to forge a new direction. The Strategic Plans cover three-year periods and are reviewed annually at which time the activities undertaken by the NGF in the preceding year will be evaluated and the priorities reviewed and if necessary adjusted to enable the achievement of our objectives. So far, there has been two Strategic Plans, 2010-2012 and 2014-2016. Preparations are in place for the next plan, 2017-2019.
