The Kebbi State Government says it received N5.9 billion Paris refund from the Federal Government, while pensioners in the state have been paid 40 percent of their entitlements.Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed Augie, confirmed this while speaking with journalists, in Birnin-Kebbi.Augie, who disclosed that about N7 billion had been paid so far to settle pensioners in the state, said that the state deducts an average of N1.5 billion monthly to pay salaries of 19,133 civil servants out of the N2.7 billion received from the Federal Government monthly. He declared that that was a major burden.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has engaged a new Health Coordinator to run its programs in the health sector.He is Ahmad Abdulwahab, a medical doctor and experienced public health/health systems expert with over 20 years’ experience in the health sector within and outside the country.A statement issued by the Head of Media and Public Affairs at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum Secretariat, Abulrazque B. Barkindo, said Dr. Abdulwahab would function as an embedded consultant at the Forum’s health sector.He said: “Ahmad has worked with both government and international organizations. Efforts to promote girl- child education in Bauchi State received a boost recently with the launch of the Girls for Girls (G4G), targeting 100 schools in the state. The Sun Education understands that the G4G project would be carried out in the state by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in partnership with Federal Ministry of Education and the Bauchi State government.The Chief of Field Office, UNICEF, Bauchi, Abdulai Kaikai, who gave an overview of the project during the ceremony held at the Government Girls’ College (GGC), Bauchi, said that the project would be established in six focused Girls Education Project 3 (GEP3) local government areas, namely, Alkaleri, Ganjuwa, Ningi, Shira, Toro and Zaki.He noted that the project was a component of GEP3 being implemented in Bauchi, Niger, Kastina, Sokoto and Zamfara states through collaboration with UNICEF and the Federal Government, with funding from the United Kingdom Department of International Development (DFID).

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the investment between the two parties, would be signed in the next few months. The agency’s Chairman, Alhaji Isyaku Umar Tofa, made this known during the presentation of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) to two investors, by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at the Government House in Kano. “We are about concluding talks with them and they were encouraged by the commitment of the Ganduje administration to provide tax incentives as well as free land for their huge investment”, he stated.
