On Monday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, there was a lecture series with His Excellency, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, MMF.
At the lecture series, the Chairman of NGF, Mr. Fayemi addressed the challenges that arise from insurgency and banditry in Nigeria.
He stated how Africa has come of age and the fortunes of Africa are in our hands to mold.
He added that as one person, we can surmount all our differences.
At the lecture series, the Former President, H.E. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo stated that it’s not too late to start tackling the issue of banditry and kidnapping while we still have it in Nigeria.
He added that we do not want Boko Haram to continue for the year 2030 or 2035.
The Former President added that when dealing with Boko Haram, we seem to be treating symptoms rather than the disease.
“People have turned the whole exercise into an industry where equipment that we buy are restrained.”
He furthermore stated that we aren’t going anywhere until we take nation-building seriously and move Nigeria from being a country to a nation.
